Looking after the Environment
In caring for the environment, Calcorp Services focus on 8 key areas to minimise environmental impact:
- Chemical use: operational practices have resulted in almost complete elimination of chemicals, in the cleaning process. When chemicals are absolutely required, products used are either biodegradable or naturally based. Prior to purchase, Calcorp also reviews supplier Material Safety Data Sheets to ensure that all chemicals purchased conform to their strict environmental guidelines.
- Protecting the waterways: the environmental management plan ensures the elimination of debris entering storm water systems. Special absorbent filtering products are inserted into the drain, which assists in trapping silt, oil, chemical compounds, and litter before it enters drainage inlets. All residue is then removed and appropriately disposed of off–site.
- Reducing noise: protecting the peace of the community, through the development of innovative sound reducing technologies. Reducing noise is a high priority for the comfort of residents and the general public. Accordingly, Calcorp’s current equipment is well below OH&S and industry standard noise levels.
- Saving Water: Calcorp’s water conservation practices and specially modified equipment ensure that water is always used effectively and efficiently. All pressure cleaners are modified to reduce water consumption whilst maximising the output pressure and temperatures, resulting in higher efficiencies in cleaning, essential for maintaining high standards of cleaning.
- Recycling Plant: Calcorp commissioned and installed a water treatment plant that transforms B grade water into A grade water, which can then be used for their high pressure cleaning and graffiti removal services.
- Rain Water Usage: utilising rainwater is an additional environmentally sound alternative employed by Calcorp. Calcorp’s water tanks have a combined capacity of over 85,000 litres, which is then used for their high pressure cleaning, graffiti removal & hygiene services.
- Disposal of Waste: Calcorp disposes all waste collected from work sites at their depot or at a registered treatment facility for any hazardous waste. The company recycles paper, cardboard, glass, metal, and plastic, so that as much material as possible is kept out of landfills.
- Research and Development: Calcorp Services has made and continues to invest in research and development of its plant and equipment, which focuses exclusively on minimising any negative environmental impact.
